Felix Borges

CAPAA String Orchestra Instructor

Felix Borges directs the String Orchestra at the Creative and Performing Arts Academy of the Oldham County Schools. He also teaches private cello lessons, Chamber Ensembles and conducts at the Leadership and Performance for Strings program.  He studied in undergraduate programs both in Brazil and USA and holds a Master degree in Cello Performance from the University of Louisville where he performed as a member of the graduate string quartet. While at UofL he performed the Rococo Variations by Tchaikovsky with the UofL Symphony Orchestra after winning the school’s concerto competition. 

Felix has been invited as a guest cello soloist in Brazil and has performed several solo concertos with the Recife Symphony Orchestra under the baton of renowned Brazilian composer Marlos Nobre. He has also recorded new compositions for various  American and international composers. Felix had the privilege to perform with Stevie Wonder in the Louisville, “Songs In the Key of Life,” tour.  

Aside from music, he is an artist that enjoys working with oil painting. He lives in Louisville with his wife Celia and two young children.
